Why we love the Devin

Every so often my husband has a really good quote that I feel compelled to blog about.

The other day we were driving around, trying to find this new restaurant, and he couldn't quite remember if it was an odd or even address. After driving past the spot where he thought it should be and still not finding it, we flipped a U-turn and headed back the other direction.

"My mind is like a steel trap" he explained, making bear trap-like motions with his hands, fingers locking together.
"It snaps shut on information and holds it tight.....refusing to let it go..... until it chews its own leg off and runs away......leaving a bloody stump of partial information that's really no good to anyone".

Oh come on - he could not have just spit that out off the top of his head. He's been working on that one for a l o n g time. Not that I don't love Devin.

can i borrow him? my boyfriend never says that many words in a row, let alone coming out with something gruesome and philosophical.

He DID spit that out!!! But if you notice where I wrote "..." that means a loooonnng pause. There were several long pauses between each chunk of that analogy. But it's all him.

For perhaps the first time in my life I find myself wishing I was in marketing so I could find the right area to market this--to "get it out there" in the world. It doesn't seem quite right for a t shirt...a poster? no... I don't know I need someone to get on this, to brainstorm it in a room of people whose only job is to find out how to sell this and make it work. A bill board...maybe...get back to me on this people. Order in chinese and don't call me unless it's good! (I think I need to be a boss of a team of people who do my bidding, regardless of the field of business. That would be awesome. Fo now I'll just print it out so I can re-read it regularly and laugh my ass off.
