SACRILICIOUS, PART II

What happens when adults drink apple-tinis and help a 4-year-old assemble the Easter diorama kit that he got at church? Why this, of course:

Your Name Here-itecture

It all started with an article in the Times called Architecture & Carchitecture.....

  • Phlegmitecture
  • Thongitecture
  • Blanditecture
  • Whoreitecture

  • I can resist anything but temptation-tecture (a variant of Oscar Wilde-itecture)
  • I have a dream-itecture (also known as Martin Luther King jr-itecture)
  • Twas brillig and the slithy tove-itecture (a short-lived fad during the Jabberwock-itecture craze of 1872)
  • We were somewhere around Barstow on the edge of the desert when the drugs began to take hold-itecture (An homage to Hunter S. Thompson's Gonzitecture)
  • Fool me once [pause], shame on...shame on you. [Long pause] Fool me. [Pause] You can't get fooled again-itecture (a regional subset of the current mindless and uninspired George W-itecture, often referred to as "even worse than post-modernism")
  • I think, therefore I am-itecture (splinter faction derived from Descartes’ previously unpublished 7th part of the “Discourse on Method”, in which he proves that when you die your soul goes to a Starbuck's in Poughkeepsie)
  • Ham on Rye-itecture (A spinoff of Chinaski-tecture. Only Bukowski fans need apply.)

Give a shout out to Michael for starting this wonderfully addictive diversion!

Bravo! Author! Author-itecture!!

Feet hurt, gothic architecture rox

Saw st. vitus cathedral today and was impressed (yes, we have pix). Also went to the Mucha museum. neat stuff. on to Poland tomorrow in a Nissan Micra--woo hoo. small cars are the rule...espresso is everywhere, normal coffee--not so much. glad to have comfy shoes. hmm, perhaps they have Hummers in Poland too??!?! I'll see if I can indeed find a hummer anywhere...

Traveling Em

Yak Se Mash. I am having a good time in Prague so far. Jet lag sux, but damn, the cars here are wonderful. Everything is like an 'Em-car' as Dylan likes to call them (small gas-sipping, fun to drive stickshifts). Although he did see a Hummer. On the flight from London to Prague, we sat next to a Brit who said that they have hummers in London too and everytime one goes by, several people shout out "a**hole." Good times.

We went over the St. Charles bridge and wandered around a lot. I'm getting to know the main square and have hit the point where, when wandering around, am no longer phased...Oh look, another absolutely gorgeous, ornate breathtaking statue. ho hum. The Metro is also fun and I'm LOVING the cheese. oh yes. It's much more expensive than it was even 4 years ago when Dyl was here last, but still doable. Here for a few more days and then on to Poland for Easter. Should be interesting!

Wastin'away again in Migraine-ritaville...

Actually, today is the first day in roughly 3 weeks without migraine's from hell (the ones I encountered today were just tourists from Jersey and when I confronted them with some pills, they scattered like rain--to steal a line from a cheesy Rod Stewart song. Oh like you don't know what song. Whatever, you are humming the refrain of Downtown Train right now. Admit it!) So I decided that the color alert for today is hopeful prom-pastel ice blue (not to be confused with the more garish 1970's Mexican wedding tuxedo blue nor the robin's eggish shade known only as "BathTub Mary" blue.) Hooray!

Mount St. Helens Blows...

(Perhaps I could have phrased that better....I didn't mean to make Mount St. Helens sound like a slut)

This was what Mt. St. Helens looked like here in Portland on Tuesday evening, March 8, 2005. The ash plume extended nearly 40,000 feet into the air. Coooooooool.

Burnt Umber Level Alert

Today's mood swing alert color is burnt umber: reeling in the irony that I am wearing a heating pad on my back and an ice pack on my neck in an attempt to squelch my marathon migraine

Mood Swing Alert Color Chart

I think I should have a mood swing color alert scale thingy. You know, like level orange and all that? Here's a few color-mood combos in no particular order:

mauve: tired but impish
chartreuse: starting to get a fucking migraine
periwinkle: at peace; for now
green: vibrant and vivacious
ecru: achy and depressed, possibly heading slowly toward chartreuse
yellow: steadily enroute to chartreuse
fuschia: anxiety ridden and panicky
indigo: energetically mellow (or to quote Salt n Pepa: "relaxed with pep")
chalky pastel green(but not quite pistachio...mmm, pistachio...):
world weary, forlorn and teary-eyed
screaming turquoise: severely annoyed.
ochre: lethargic but spiteful
